This was a very hard list to come up with. So many great albums came out in 2013. Keep in mind musical preference is subjective to each individual listener. Here’s what got my juices flowing this year.
1. Revocation – S/T (Relapse)
This song is killer. The guitar work speaks for itself as well as the tone. One thing I’ve always liked about this group is the subject matter they write about. All around, a solid release.
2. Ghost B.C. – Infestissumam (Republic)
Well, what can I really say about this album? It’s melodic, dark, and carefully crafted. Give this album a listen.
3. Death Grips – Government Plates (self-released)
This one has been a frequent listen on my drives. Being the type of group DG is I didn’t know what to expect on the first listen. But after becoming familiar with it I haven’t stopped listening to it since it’s release.
4. Uncle Acid and The Deadbeats – Mind Control (Metal Blade)
This album reminds me of old Sabbath and Pentagram mixed with psychedelics, which is awesome.
5. Black Tusk – Tend No Wounds (Relapse)
I listened to this one a ton. It’s like I’m listening to the bastard child of Kyuss and I’m more than okay with that. Killer album.
So many great albums came out this year and I’m more than excited for what 2014 will bring. Boom!
